We know what the plant is!

The photo of the beautiful plant taken by my son (on the previous post) has been identyfied:
Doll's Eyes  or White Baneberry
Actaea pachypoda (doll's-eyeswhite baneberry) is a species of flowering plant in the genus Actaea, of the family Ranunculaceae, native to eastern North America.
Actaea pachypoda fruit
It is an herbaceous perennial plant growing to 50 cm or more tall (1½ to 2 feet tall and 3 feet wide). It has toothed, bipinnate compound leaves up to 40 cm long and 30 cm broad. The white flowersare produced in spring in a dense raceme about 10 cm long. Its most striking feature is its fruit, a 1 cm diameter white berry, whose size, shape, and black stigma scar give the species its other common name, "doll's eyes". The berries ripen over the summer, turning into a fruit that persists on the plant until frost.
White baneberry prefers clay to coarse loamy upland soils, and is found in hardwood and mixed forest stands. In cultivation it requires part to full shade, rich loamy soil, and regular water with good drainage to reproduce its native habitat.[1]
Both the berries and the entire plant are considered poisonous to humans. The berries contain cardiogenic toxins which can have an immediate sedative effect on human cardiac muscle tissue, and are the most poisonous part of the plant. Ingestion of the berries can lead to cardiac arrest and death. The berries are harmless to birds, the plant's primary seed dispersers.[citation needed]

Need Prayer?

I do not know if this will work, but I am willing to try, if you are. I would like to be a help to you....if you can not pray or need extra prayer.....I could do it with you and for you!  I think if you use the "comment" tab, and leave a prayer request I will see it.  Others may see it too!  That could be a good thing or not, so do not write too many personal details....besides the Lord knows you and your needs.  HE is bigger than any problem, sin, or mistake, HE is awesome and HE IS MERCY.

Friday October 7th is the "first Friday" of the Month.

"Our Lady", this sculpture is located at the Marie Joseph Spiritual Center in Biddeford Pool MainePhoto by Tina

"According to the words of Christ through His apparitions to St. Margaret Mary, there are several promises to those that who practice the First Friday Devotions:

"In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour."[2]
The devotion consists of several practices that are performed on the first Fridays of nine consecutive months. On these days, a person is to attend Holy Mass and receive communion.[3] If the need arises in order to receive communion in a state of grace, a person should also make use of the Sacrament of Penance before attending Mass. In many Catholic communities the practice of the Holy Hour of meditation during the Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament during the First Fridays is encouraged.

Promises

  1. I will give them all of the graces necessary for their state of life.
  2. I will establish peace in their houses.
  3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.
  4. I will be their strength during life and above all during death.
  5. I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.
  6. Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.
  7. Tepid souls shall grow fervent.
  8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.
  9. I will bless every place where a picture of my heart shall be set up and honored.
  10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
  11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.
  12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who shall receive communion on the First Friday in nine consecutive months the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving their sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.[5] "

October 5th feast day and 2015 Moose Hunt

Today is the feast day of Saint Faustina. She is the Polish nun who shared revelations from Christ, for the world, about His Abundant Love and Mercy.

This is inside the National Shrine to the Divine Mercy in Stockbridge Mass. Tim and I went this past summer....a wonderful trip!

We were blessed with meat for the freezer and to share with others.  It is not possible to take a creature like this Maine Moose for granted; we feel very fortunate to have had Justin win the Maine Moose lottery, for what maybe, a once in a life time opportunity....all the earth displays the Glory of God.
Our two sons share a moment with Justin's first Moose. It was last October when Justin (L) and Jacob (R) and a large entourage went on the Maine Moose hunt. Justin shot this 778 lb Moose, Jacob was his sub. It took the group hours to drag it out.

Good times and Apple Pie!

We went apple picking, and the 2 cousins loved it!
I also canned 6 quarts of apple pie filling.

*To treat apple slices to prevent browning, apply  according to the manufacturer's instructions or submerge cut apples in a mixture of 1/4 cup lemon juice and 4 cups water.
  1. PREPARE boiling water canner. Heat jars in simmering water until ready for use. Do not boil.  Wash lids in warm soapy water and set bands aside.
  2. BLANCH apple slices, working with 6 cups at a time, in a large pot of boiling water for 1 minute. Remove with a slotted spoon and keep warm in a covered bowl.
  3. COMBINE sugar, ClearJel®, cinnamon and nutmeg in a large stainless steel saucepan. Stir in apple juice and cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly, and cook until mixture thickens and begins to bubble. Add lemon juice, return to a boil and boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Drain apple slices and immediately fold into hot mixture. Before processing, heat, stirring, until apples are heated through.
  4. LADLE hot apple pie filling into hot jars leaving 1 inch headspace. Remove air bubbles. Wipe rim. Center lid on jar. Apply band until fit is fingertip tight.
  5. PROCESS jars in a boiling water canner for 25 minutes, adjusting for altitude. Remove jars and cool. Check lids for seal after 24 hours. Lid should not flex up and down when center is pressed.

Flowers from a dear friend....

2 cousins having fun!

A "vintage train" ride. Enjoy the sounds of long ago, ( and yes, I did get soot on me). This is a coal powered steam train.
