FYI~Assisted Suicide


The legislative hearing on the two bills proposing physician assisted suicide in Maine are set for Wednesday, April 5th at 9:30 in Augusta. 

FOUR ways to help:

1. Are you a doctor, nurse, veteran or member of the disability committee? Or do you know of someone who is who would be willing to testify in opposition to the TWO bills OR submit written testimony? If the answer is yes, email me at suzanne.lafreniere@portlanddiocese.org and I will work with you directly to facilitate your legislative testimony.

2. Are you a constitutent of a member of the Joint Select Committee on Health and Human Services? List is below. If so, please email me at suzanne.lafreniere@portlanddiocese.org and we can discuss the best messaging for your particular legislator.

3. Would you be willing to submit an op - ed in your local paper (weekly) to voice your opposition to these dangerous bills? If so, please email me at suzanne.lafreniere@portlanddiocese.org and we can discuss submissions. I am more than willing to help you write/draft/submit etc.

4. PRAY.  For wise counsel for our legislators and for those vulnerable people who would be negatively affected by passage of this bill.

I will be asking for more help after the public hearing and work session/committee vote on April 12th.
